Items to Bring

The following is a list of items that campers have found useful. Please keep in mind that Annapolis is usually hot and humid in the summer.

  • Running shoes/socks, not just sandals (Only sandals with heel straps will be allowed in the Navy dining hall)

  • Mostly shorts and T-shirts

  • Nicer clothes for Annapolis Visit (example: Nice shorts and collared polo shirt)

  • Hats suggested for rowing, but are not allowed to be worn in the dining hall or ceremonial areas.

  • Combination Lock for lockable closet in dorm room (Parents should keep a copy of the combination. Keys can be easily lost)

  • Extra Long Twin Sheets, Blanket and Pillow

  • Small desk fan (optional, our rooms have air conditioning)

  • Towel, toiletries and suncreen

  • Swim suit (We have a short swim test on the first evening of the camp consisting of 1 lap of the pool and treading water for 5 minutes)

  • Alarm clock

  • Healthy snacks and water or Gatorade (Our three meals a day are substantial but healthy snacks are a popular item in the evenings before lights out)

  • A few dollars for souvenirs (Naval Academy Gift Shop and Annapolis town visit)

All Campers will be housed two to four per room in the Midshipmen's dorm, Bancroft Hall. Each room has twin beds, desks, lockers, vanity, and a shower. Roommates can be requested by sending an e-mail to friedric@usna.edu
